CAA Roundup: Dukes focused on game, not GameDay; Tribe hunting first CAA win

The following comes directly from the CAA:

RICHMOND, Va. (October 9, 2017) – Five CAA Football squads were ranked nationally in the latest FCS Top 25 polls that were released on Monday.

James Madison was the near-unanimous No. 1 team for the seventh straight week in both the STATS FCS Poll and the FCS Coaches Poll. The Dukes (5-0, 2-0), who were off last week, will put their nation’s best 17-game winning streak on the line this Saturday as they host Villanova.

New Hampshire, which also had a bye last week, moved up one spot to No. 12 in the STATS and FCS Coaches polls. The Wildcats (4-1, 2-0) hit the road this Saturday to take on CAA opponent Stony Brook.

Villanova, which posted an impressive 31-0 victory over Maine last week, also bumped up one spot to No. 11 in the STATS poll and No. 14 in the Coaches poll. The Wildcats (4-2, 2-1) travel to James Madison in a big conference showdown on Saturday.

Richmond, which rallied for a 41-38 double-overtime victory over UAlbany last week, advanced one spot to No. 13 in both the STATS and FCS Coaches polls. The Spiders (3-2, 1-1) are on the road this Saturday at league foe Towson.

Elon climbed to No. 16 in the STATS poll and No. 20 in the Coaches poll after defeating William & Mary, 25-17, for its fifth straight victory last Saturday. The Phoenix (5-1, 3-0) are off this week.

In addition to the five ranked teams, UAlbany (3-3, 1-2), Delaware (3-2, 1-1) and Stony Brook (4-2, 3-1) were among others receiving votes in both national polls.

The five teams in both polls rank second to the Missouri Valley Football Conference, which has six ranked teams.  CAA Football has a remarkable 20-3 record in non-conference games against FCS opponents this season and has a pair of victories over FBS foes.
