ASHLAND, Va. (WRIC) — It was a special night for Randolph-Macon football at Day Field Thursday night, it being the first game played on a Thursday night. With the stands and adjacent dormitories filled to the brim with black and gold supporters, the Yellow Jackets certainly put on a show, only Shenandoah’s was more impressive.
The Hornets outgunned the hosts 51-38, using a second half surge to widen the gap. Shenandoah (3-1) got a record-breaking performance from the ODAC’s leading quarterback Hayden Bauserman, throwing 558 yards and six touchdowns to set the new program standard in both categories.
As for Randolph-Macon (2-2) the Yellow Jackets rushed for 176 yards, led by Tre Frederick with 160 yards. Burke Estes was capable throwing the football under the shadow of Bauserman’s symphony through the air, finishing with 380 yards passing and four touchdowns but throwing four interceptions.
The Yellow Jackets hit the road to play Bridgewater (Va.) on October, 7th, following tonight’s ODAC opening loss.
