Spiders working on tackling ahead of Colgate road trip

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Spiders had a great game offensively Friday night, but the other two phases of the game did not come through. #9 Richmond (0-1) fell to #3 Sam Houston State 48-34 in a game that saw multiple high longsnaps and missed tackles.

Head Coach Russ Huesman said Wednesday he is confident the snapping issues will be fixed, but he and his team spent extra time working on tackling ahead of Richmond;s trip to face #25 Colgate.

The Raiders have a strong running attack, so solid tackling will be even more important than it was Friday against the Bearkats’ Air Raid-style passing attack.

The Spiders kick it off with Colgate Saturday at 3:30 PM.
