3 charged in Richmond robbery & shooting that happened in June

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department has arrested three men in connection with a shooting and robbery that happened in June on the city’s southside.

Jamel D. Scott 28, Vashawn L. Gray, 31, and Marcellus A. McQuinn, 43, were arrested last week in two separate incidents for the June 20 shooting and robbery of a man in the 600 block of Westover Hills.

Gray was arrested by Richmond officers on Thursday, July 6 after a brief vehicle and foot pursuit. He was charged with felony eluding police, robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Other charges are pending.

McQuinn and Scott were arrested by the US Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force on Friday, July 7. They were also charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Other charges are pending for them as well.

Police responded to a call about shots being fired at an apartment building in the 600 block of Westover Hills Boulevard at 10:30 p.m. on June 20. After investigating, officers found a man at a local hospital who reported that he was robbed and shot by three suspects while in his apartment. He was transported by a private vehicle with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
