RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Several Richmond-area Martin’s stores are closing their doors for good on Monday.
The stores located at 6401 Centralia Road, Chesterfield, 5201 Chippenham Crossing Center, Richmond, 11361 Midlothian Turnpike, Chesterfield and 4660 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg are are all closing on July 10.
The Martin’s stores located at 9645 W. Broad Street, 7035 Three Chopt Road, and 3522 W. Cary Street are also closing Monday but will eventually reopen as Publix Super Markets.
This leaves only five Martin’s stores remaining in Central Virginia for a only a few weeks, as the stores located at 253 North Washington Highway, Ashland, 12601 Jefferson Davis Highway, Chester, 200 Charter Colony Parkway, Midlothian, 7045 Forest Hill Avenue, Richmond, and 5700 Brook Road, Richmond are all set to close on August 2.
“Throughout this difficult process, our top concern has been to take care of our associates and treat them fairly and with respect,” GIANT/MARTIN’S President Tom Lenkevich said in a release. “We want to thank our associates for their hard work and dedication over the years, and we are grateful for the loyalty of our many customers.”
Two other Publix grocery stores are set to open in July. The supermarket chained announced that the store at Nuckols Place, located at 5400 Wyndham Forest Drive in Glen Allen, will hold its grand opening on Saturday, July 15. The Publix at The Shoppes at Crossridge, located at 10250 Staples Mill Road, will hold a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, July 29.
