Man injured, charged with DUI in early a.m. I-95 crash

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police have charged a man with a DUI after he crashed his vehicle along I-95 north near Route 288 in Chesterfield County early Monday morning.

Police said that Hadi Mohammed, 32, of Petersburg was also injured in the crash and transported to John Randolph Medical Center with minor injuries.

Police report that Mohammed was driving northbound on I-95 shortly after 1 a.m. when the Nissan sedan he was driving struck a wall and flipped over it, landing in the southbound travel lanes.

A passenger who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident and was not injured remained at the scene of the crash.

Mohammed, however, fled and was later apprehended by Chesterfield Police and transported to the hospital for treatment. He has since been charged with driving under the influence.

The crash remains under investigation.
