Heavy rain causes Chesterfield County road to crumble

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — VDOT is warning drivers to avoid a part of a road in north Chesterfield County after heavy downpours caused the pavement to crumble.

State Highway 324 in Bon Air will be closed until further notice as crews work to make repairs.

The roads leads to the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center and is closed from Rockaway Road to the warden’s house.

Employees and visitors can still access the facility through the Old Bon Air Road entrance. Drivers can still access Buford and Robious Roads by driving on Old Bon Air Road.

VDOT crews will be working on repairs Thursday.
