RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmonders joined park rangers and historians Sunday to relive the Battle of Malvern Hill, as part of the battle’s anniversary.
Those in attendance witnessed more than two miles of the battlefield where Union and Confederate re-enactors clashed to teach the significance of the battle.
Tour guides said it is important for everyone to know the history that is right here in Central Virginia.
“This ground here at Malvern Hill is where an important event in this country took place,” Park Ranger Ed Sanders said. “And we encourage people to come out and walk the ground and learn about what took place here.”
Malvern Hill was the last battle in a series of battles during the Civil War known as the Seven Days Battles.
