SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Virginia man is dead and two juveniles injured in a boating accident that happened on Lake Anna Saturday.

Representatives from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries said in a preliminary report that Charles William Bowen, 53, of Orange County, died when the boat he was in made an “evasive move to avoid another boat heading in their direction, ejecting both occupants from the boat.”

The juveniles were injured when the boat Bowen was in ran over a line that was towing them in innertubes. Both juveniles were taken to Mary Washington Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The second occupant who was in the boat with Bowen was not injured in the incident.

A man who was at the scene of the crash recorded a Facebook LIVE video as the crash was taking place. In the video, viewers can see the driverless boat spinning in circles out of control.

“It’s crazy, I watched it flip. I don’t know if they hit another boat or if they just took a big wave,” Justin Armel, the man who recorded the video said at one point. “They passed me at like 70-80 miles per hour.”

According to the report, alcohol is being considered a factor in the crash. Charges are also pending at this time.
