New Kent man charged in east Henrico County shooting incident

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Henrico County police arrested and charged a man with shooting a woman early Friday in the county’s East End.

Police said that the shooting happened Friday morning around 7:35 a.m. near the intersection of Kenway Avenue and Nine Mile Road.

When officers arrived, it was determined that the incident actually took place at the intersection of East Richmond Road and Nine Mile Road., but the shooting victim had left the scene in an attempt to contact police.

Police said that Michael M. Willoughby of New Kent County shot the woman after a verbal altercation. Both the victim and the shooter were in separate vehicles at the time of the shooting.

Michael M. Willoughby, 32, of Quinton, Va. is being charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, shooting from a vehicle and assault and battery.

Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment.

Meanwhile, Willoughby was located and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, shooting from a vehicle and assault and battery.
