Jam Sandwich Music Festival held for the 1st time on Mayo Island

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Fans of “jam” music will rejoice in hearing about a new music event taking place Saturday night in Richmond.

The first ever Jam Sandwich Music Festival is taking place on Mayo Island.

The festival also includes jam-themed food and drinks to go along with the tunes.

Event organizers said they hope the event grows over the next few years and that they’ll be able to turn the event into a multi-day music event.

They spoke with 8News about the event.

“It’s been hot, but it’s been great,” said Justin Doyle who is performing at the event. “Summertime, what do you expect?”

In addition to music and food there will also be activities like yoga.

Some of the bands who participated in this year’s event were: Michael Franti & SpearheadMoon Taxi, and Chelsea Shag as well as local favorites Rikki Shay, Dalton Dash and Dead Frog.

Look out for next year’s event. Check here for more information.
