Richmond woman gets 30 years in death of goddaughter

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond woman charged in the death of her 3-year-old goddaughter will serve 30 years behind bars.

In February 2016, Danielle L. Turner was charged with felony child neglect in the death of her goddaughter, Latrice Walden, after an autopsy revealed the child died as a cause of blunt force trauma to the head. She pleaded no contest to the crime back in March.

In court on Friday, Turner was sentenced to 40 years in jail with 10 years suspended.
