WRIC official statement regarding Mecklenburg and Spotsylvania Counties Comcast decision

To Our Viewers in Mecklenburg and Spotsylvania Counties:

On June 28, 2017, Comcast discontinued carriage of WRIC-TV on its system in Mecklenburg County and Spotsylvania County.  Please be assured that Comcast is not removing WRIC-TV from its system in Mecklenburg and Spotsylvania Counties because of any dispute between Comcast and Nexstar Media Group regarding Comcast’s carriage of WRIC-TV.  Rather, Mecklenburg County and Spotsylvania County are outside of WRIC-TV’s home market of Richmond-Petersburg and Comcast has informed us that effective on June 28, 2017, it will no longer carry WRIC-TV out of market.  If you disagree with Comcast’s decision, we urge you to contact them directly at 1-800-266-2278.

WRIC-TV intends to continue to serve our local viewers and communities, including Mecklenburg and Spotsylvania Counties.  For our viewers in Mecklenburg County and Spotsylvania County, WRIC-TV’s over-the-air signal is available for viewing with a digital antenna.  In addition, we will continue to share news reports and other information on www.wric.com and on the WRIC mobile app by searching for WRIC 8News in the app store. We encourage you to livestream our broadcasts each day on wric.com. You can also follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/8News/ and sign up for email alerts at  http://wric.com/sign-up-for-email-alerts/. We look forward to continuing to serve you.
