Virginia man re-sentenced to 99 years for killing teen in 1998

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A judge in Bedford County has re-sentenced a man charged in the 1998 murder of a teenager to 99 years behind bars.

Randy Ross was one of two then-teenagers charged in the murder of 17-year-old Jamelle Poindexter, according to 8News affiliate WSET.

Ross had to be re-sentenced because of a recent Supreme Court ruling that stated giving minors life in prison is unconstitutional. Ross was 17 at the time he was originally sentenced.
