Police: Robbery suspects assaulted store clerk, stole his car

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police in Chesterfield County are searching for two men who they say robbed the Jefferson Express convenience store on Jefferson Davis Highway Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred shortly after 12 p.m. at the convenience store located at 16638 Jeff Davis Highway.

After the two men entered the business, police say one of them approached the counter while the second suspect went behind the counter and assaulted the clerk while demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the second suspect assaulted the clerk again and demanded the keys to his vehicle. The suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle, a white 2012 Toyota Highlander with Virginia tags VFJ-3701, heading north on Jeff Davis Highway.

Police say the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The first suspect is described as a black male in his 20s who was wearing a black shirt, black pants, a baseball-style cap and a backpack when the incident occurred.

The second suspect is described as a black male in his 20s who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, red shorts and red shoes.
