Several scams targeting seniors reported to Louisa County Sheriff’s Office

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office reports receiving several calls about scams targeting senior citizens.

They include mail, phone, and solicitation scams.

To protect yourself from becoming a victim of a scam, do not give out your personal banking information to someone who calls you.

If someone claiming to be from a government agency calls asking for money, ask for a certified letter first.

As far as solicitation scams go, never hire someone who shows up at your door saying something on your home needs to be repaired or fixed.

If you are worried about an older relative being a victim of a scam, get involved in their financial decisions and ask them about calls they have received.
