RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — There will be a primary to decide who will take on Sen. Tim Kaine in 2018.

The Republican Party of Virginia decided on holding a primary instead of a convention to pick the nominee.

Political commentator Laura Ingraham, former Governor Jim Gilmore, and Carly Fiorina have all shown interest in running for the GOP spot.

Sen. Kaine plans to run for reelection in the midterms.
