RAL invites communal participation in annual fundraising pet calendar contest

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Animal League (RAL) is hosting its 7th annual charitable calendar contest.

RAL encourages pet owners to send in pictures of their animals for a competition, where the top 12 pets will be featured for their own month in the calendar and the top fundraiser will be on the cover.

Every $1 donated will count as one vote. The fundraiser contest supports over 2,000 animals that RAL cares for each year and last year’s voting raised over $29,000 for Central Virginia pets in need.

The contest, which runs from June 26 through August 26, will conclude with a finale party at the North Chesterfield shelter.

The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. on August 26. Though the event is free, there is a $2 suggested donation towards a calendar pet of choice as a last-minute donation before the 2018 winners are announced at 8 p.m.

Contestants can enter the contest online here. The guidelines and rules are listed on the website. The top winning pet will also be featured in upcoming RAL marketing materials. The top pets will have the opportunity to be photographed by local professional pet photographer, Becky Huddleston.

The contest features a variety of incentives, as all pets who raise $100 or more will have a small photo in the calendar.
