Police respond to 12 fatal crashes statewide over weekend

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — According to Sergeant Stephan Vick, the public information officer for the First Division of Virginia State Police, there were 12 fatal crashes statewide between Friday night and Saturday night.

Though the majority of the wrecks were in Richmond and outlining areas, they also reached from Giles County to Fairfax.

The department will participate in a press conference with AAA on Wednesday, June 28 to emphasize the importance of safe driving.

“I just feel it necessary to make drivers aware and to not drink and drive,” Vick said. “Wear seatbelts, obey posted speed limits and put the phone down.”
