PHOTOS: Crews rescue calf from James River

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Officials from Goochland County and Chesterfield County teamed up to rescue a calf from the James River on Sunday.

The Black Angus calf had to be coaxed up the steep riverbank along the shore of a cattle farm in Chesterfield County. It made it out of the river safely and was last seen running through its pasture with the rest of the herd.

It is unclear at this time how the calf made it into the water, but with temperatures nearing the 90s, it could have been looking for a way to cool off.
