Motorcyclist dies after striking deer in Powhatan County

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A motorcyclist was killed after striking a deer in Powhatan County Monday morning.

The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. at 2570 Judes Ferry Road, roughly a half mile east of Mill Road.

According to Virginia State Police, a 1985 Harley Davidson was travelling east on Judes Ferry Road when a deer ran into the road and struck the motorcyclist, causing the operator to be thrown to the pavement.

The motorcyclist, who has been identified as 54-year-old David A. Jordon of Powhatan County, was transported to Watkins Center Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
