HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A man in Hopewell suffered a non-life threatening injury Thursday after he was shot while giving directions to a stranger.
Police said that the 26-year-old man was sitting in a car with a female passenger when a silver Lexus SUV pulled up beside him. Police said that a person in the SUV asked for directions, and the man told them where to go.
Then, as the suspect vehicle was leaving, a single gunshot was fired from the back seat of the SUV which hit the 26-year-old man in the arm.
The suspect vehicle then fled the area while the victim drove himself to the hospital for medical assistance. The victim has since been treated and released.
The passenger was not injured in the incident.
The incident happened Thursday night at 9:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Carolina Avenue.
