RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The staff and students at Overby-Sheppard Elementary School in Richmond will be temporarily relocated while the school undergoes renovations.
The renovations are expected to take up to six months.
Starting today, the students and staff will move to Clark Springs Elementary School which is about three miles away from Overby-Sheppard on W. Baker Street.
The building is currently vacant and staff and volunteers will be on hand to help prepare for the upcoming school year.
Meanwhile, Overby-Sheppard will be under construction getting full-scale walls and doors, new ceilings, lighting, and flooring. They will also be getting a new HVAC system for temperature control in the classrooms.
School officials are hoping that teachers, staff, and students will be walking into a new and improved Overby-Sheppard in January.
