HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) —  Henrico youth are making a philanthropic effort to help their community by racing.

11-year-old best friends Breanna and Cammie created and organized events for the annual Harmony Run. That race, is for children between 5 and 11 years old. The kids just completed the second annual Harmony Run race on June 17 to raise money for FeedMore’s BackPack program. Last year, the group ran in honor of CARITAS and raised over $330. This year they raised over $430 for FeedMore.

Breanna and Cammie started a program called RACEforHarmony, which stands for: Respect Connect Accept Everyone. This program aims to encourage children to do random acts of kindness on a daily basis in hopes of adding more harmony into the world. The girls also created original shirts for the mission.

Once a month the girls and a group of friends band together to do at least one kind act. So far they’ve done eight since starting their mission last year.

For more on their initiative you can check out their RACEforHarmony Facebook and Instagram pages.
