Police: Woman arrested after child assault captured on Facebook

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Detectives in Richmond have arrested a woman for assaulting a child after the incident was broadcast on social media.

Police say the alleged assault was captured on Facebook earlier this month.  Larita N. Cosby, of the 1700 block of Lamb Avenue, has been charged her with domestic simple assault for her role in the incident.

The 32-year-old was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor for an unrelated incident.

The video shows the woman holding a girl by her hair and hitting the girl repeatedly. Police did not release the relationship between Cosby and the girl.

The Richmond Police Department has been working with Child Protective Services and would like to thank the community for providing information regarding this case.
