HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A woman is being charged with child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after police said she left her kids alone at home when a fire broke out.

Danielle Willnett Pollard was recently charged in relation to the incident that happened in April.

The incident happened April 3 in the 100 block of Engleside Circle. This is in Essex Village Apartments.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the two-story apartment building. Fire officials said smoke from the blaze traveled to surrounding apartments.

Although no one was injured, a total of 8 units were affected by the fire and 15 people were displaced.

After investigating, police determined three children were left unattended in the apartment where the fire began.

Further details about the cause of the fire are still unknown at this time.
