RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Meet our furry friend of the week, Steve.
Two-year-old Steve was transferred to the Richmond SPCA from the Prince William County shelter in March.
The Richmond SPCA’s veterinarian identified a heart condition soon after he arrived at the center.
Steve has been in the care of the shelter medicine team in the months since and spent time in a foster home with a volunteer who really enjoyed his company.
The cardiologist who evaluated Steve has placed him on Atenolol, a medication that slows his heart rate and improves the blood flow. It is recommended that Steve is rechecked by this specialist in January of 2018.
In foster care, Steve was a great cat who liked to stay close to his foster, greeted her at the door and slept close to her at night. He’s a purr machine who is affectionate and enjoys being held.
