Police identify driver killed in Thursday’s I-295 crash

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving multiple vehicles on I-295 northbound (mile marker 41.7) in Hanover County Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at around 11:20 a.m. at mile marker 41.7, just north of Route 301.

According to police, a Ford Escape was traveling northbound when it was struck in the rear by a Jeep.

The driver of the Ford, Rex E. Beebe, 59 of Savona, NY, was rushed to VCU Medical Center where he later died. Two passengers who were also in the Ford — a 14-year-old female and a 7-year-old female — were both transported with serious injuries to VCU Medical Center.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say charges are still pending.
