RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Henrico Police helped rescue a child Wednesday who had been accidentally been locked in a hot car.

Police stayed on scene and monitored the young child, preparing to smash a window if necessary while the child’s mother left to get a spare key.

Temperatures rose into the low-90s Wednesday afternoon.

While the child’s mom was away, the officer involved used a stuffed animal to keep the child’s attention while he monitored him for signs of distress or illness.

Fortunately, the situation was resolved without injury and the boy got a new stuffed animal for his bravery.
