Teen turns himself in after fatal shooting of Chesterfield man

UPDATE: Chesterfield Police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting that occurred in Chesterfield County Tuesday morning.

Authorities say that just after 11 a.m., Chesterfield police were notified that a man, identified as Tyquon D. Whitehead, 18, had arrived at Chippenham Hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Whitehead, of the 3900 block of Darcy Lane, died as a result of his injuries.

The investigation indicated that a 16-year-old male shot Whitehead near the intersection of Welch Drive and Old Creek Road. According to police, the teen and Whitehead are known to each other.

On Wednesday night, the teen turned himself in. He was arrested and charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Juvenile Detention Home and he was set to appear in Chesterfield County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police in Chesterfield County are investigating after a gunshot victim arrived at Chippenham Hospital and later died on Tuesday.
