VCU plays Richmond with chance to clinch A-10 title this weekend

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — VCU and Richmond baseball have gone their separate ways this season as they come together for the regular season finale starting Thursday, 3:00 p.m. at Pitt Field.

The VCU Rams (30-20) sit first in the Atlantic 10 standings with a one game advantage over Rhode Island. If VCU can win two of three in the weekend series they will clinch the program’s first ever A-10 regular season title.

The Richmond Spiders (17-33) had high hopes that quickly faded away as the conference season unfolded. Preseason suspensions and poor command at the mound, 275th in the country in walks allowed per nine innings (5.51), puts them in the role of spoiler for the weekend’s inter-city clash.
