1 dead in single-vehicle wreck in Dinwiddie County

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia State Police have identified the victim of a fatal accident that occurred on Rainey Creek Road in Dinwiddie County Tuesday afternoon.

The crash occurred at around 12:34 p.m. in the 24000 block of Route 654 (Rainey Creek Road). According to police, a 2003 Kia Spectra was traveling north when it ran off the road to the right, overcorrected back to the left and ran of the road before striking several trees.

The driver, who was been identified as 56-year-old Michael E. Davis of McKinney, was ejected and died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.

Speed is being considered a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
