26-year-old man identified in south Richmond homicide

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police confirm to 8News the man who was shot in Richmond’s southside early Tuesday morning has died.

The shooting occurred on the 3000 block of Lynhaven Avenue shortly before 4 a.m.

Richmond Police PIO Koury Wilson said that when officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a man, later identified as Jakeem P. Johnson, 26, of the 2300 block of Wright Avenue, who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Johnson was then transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

A small, white vehicle was observed leaving the scene towards Harwood Avenue.
