Henrico County woman found guilty of stabbing her husband to death

Mara Flore Lewis has been charged in the stabbing death of a man in Henrico County.

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Henrico County woman has been found guilty of stabbing her husband to death.

Police arrested Mara Flore Lewis in March and charged her with the murder of her husband, Fred Lewis III. She was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in court on Tuesday.

The investigation began after police received a call around 11 p.m. on December 21. They responded to a scene in the 2200 block of Carlisle Avenue where they found Lewis suffering from stab wounds.

Police said that Lewis was taken to the VCU Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said that the homicide was the result of a domestic dispute between the couple.

Lewis will be sentenced at 9 a.m. on October 3.
