Judge sets date to hear new motion from Ricky Gray’s lawyers

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A federal judge sets a hearing for Ricky Gray ahead of his set execution date.

This comes after Gray’s lawyers made a motion to stop his execution, which is set for January 18. Gray says the execution would violate his constitutional right against cruel and unusual punishment.

Gray was convicted of killing the Harveys, a family of four here in Richmond in 2006. This new hearing is set for January 3.
