CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded shortly after 11 a.m. Friday to a daycare to help move kids after a major water leak forced the building to be evacuated.
The incident occurred at the Childtime Daycare located off of Chester Road when a pipe in the ceiling broke, spraying water.
Personel responded by sending two ambulances and a medical services unit to help move kids and staff to a warm environment.
40 children and 12 adults were evacuated.
Fire crews were able to shut the water to the building down from the street, but contractors are required to repair the actual pipe.
No injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
The building will be closed for the rest of the day.
