Southbound lanes of Parham Rd. closed after crash downs powerlines

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Southbound lanes of Parham Road near Derbyshire Road in Henrico County remain closed after a car crashed into a power pole overnight.

Police say power lines are hanging low causing a hazard to drivers.

Henrico Police are asking that all motorists avoid the area as heavy traffic backups exist in the immediate area. This includes backups at the intersection of Parham Road and Patterson Avenue.

Henrico Police urge motorists to use the Huguenot Bridge and I-288 as alternative routes.

Verizon crews are at the scene. The road closure is expected to last throughout the morning commute hours. Police said they expect the flow of traffic to return to normal by 11 a.m.
