Panthers move to 8-3 on the season

Virginia Union University’s James Paige scored a career-high 19 points to power the Panthers to a 95-78 win over Concord University on Monday, December 12, in Historic Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.

VUU’s Tavon Mealy scored 16 points while teammate John Mitchell had 11 points and five rebounds in the win.

Virginia Union’s Devin Moore had 12 points while Ray Anderson dished off 11 assists.

The win raised VUU’s record to 8-3 overall, marking the best start for a Panther squad since the 2007-08 squad started 8-2. Concord fell to 4-5.

Virginia Union continues the home stand when the Panthers take on 10th-ranked Wheeling Jesuit University at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, in Barco-Stevens Hall in Richmond, Va.
