Police make arrest in Richmond teen’s murder

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A man has been arrested in connection to Sunday’s shooting on Q Street that left one female dead and another injured.

Acording to police, 22-year-old Devonta S. Ross of the 1400 block of Coalter Street was arrested Monday without incident in the 1700 block of Rosecrest Avenue by the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force. He is currently charged with aggravated assault, although additional charges are pending.

The Richmond Police Department has now identified all parties in this case.

At approximately 2:09 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1800 block of Q Street. Upon arrival, officers found two females in a side yard of a residence who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Both females were transported to a local hospital where 18-year-old Jahmeique L. Phillips later died. The other victim has an injury that is not considered life threatening.
