NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Metro police officer was shot while attempting to serve a warrant in Nashville early Tuesday morning.
It happened at the Cumberland Inn at 150 West Trinity Lane around 5:20 a.m.
Metro police say the gunman who shot an officer early Tuesday morning has been found dead.
According to Metro police, the unidentified suspect was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
News 2 has learned the East Precinct officer was hit in the shoulder and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The officer’s identity has not been released.
A witness on the scene said his girlfriend is staying at the Cumberland Inn and that the motel has been evacuated.
A portion of East Trinity Lane is closed as police and remain on the scene.
The SWAT team is also assisting.
