Hopewell Police seek suspect in armed robbery

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) – On December 11, at 9:39 p.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven convenience store located at 3301 Oaklawn Boulevard for an armed robbery that had just occurred. The preliminary investigation revealed that the lone offender entered the business, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the store clerks.

Hopewell Police say that after receiving an undisclosed amount of currency, the offender then fled the business on foot. No persons were harmed during the incident.

The offender is described as 25-30 YOA, 5’7”-5’8” with a medium build, a mustache, and beard, last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket with white/black bands on the sleeves/wrists, dark in color Adidas jogging/sweat pants and black in color shoes. The offender also had a distinctive tattoo located right between his eyes and was in possession of a dark in color handgun.

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter and is requesting that any person(s) who may have witnessed the incident, were traveling in and around the area at the time of this incident or have any information to provide regarding the offender or his tattoo, contact Detective Roland Grimm of the Hopewell Police Department at (804) 541-2284.
