RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A church destroyed in the tornado that hit Appomattox County in February is finally being rebuilt.
Members of Central Baptist Church met Sunday to celebrate the news. Their entire church building had been destroyed in the storm.
Many community members have helped clean up the church, including the Appomattox football team. Insurance money and donations are making the rebuilding of the church possible.
“The Appomattox football team came out here and helped, and that was a tremendous help to the church, but the people responded real quickly and they did a lot to help clean up the church,” Pastor Frank Casper said.
The construction company handling the project estimates the church will be back on its feet in five-to-six months.
