Off-duty Richmond Sheriff’s Deputy injured in pursuit of Lowe’s shoplifter

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — An off-duty Richmond Sheriff’s Deputy was injured in the Lowe’s parking lot in Richmond on Broad Street and North Allen Avenue Saturday evening.

The sheriff’s deputy was working as a security guard at Lowe’s at the time of the incident.

The sheriff’s deputy noticed someone shoplifting and followed them, trying to get the item back. In an attempt to apprehend the thief, the security guard/sheriff’s deputy suffered a minor injury before the suspect got away in their vehicle.

The sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene.

Officers found the suspect’s vehicle abandoned shortly thereafter a short distance away.
