One week left to drop off gifts for Nick’s Toy Drive

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — There’s just one week left to donate a gift for Nick’s Toy Drive: Quinlan’s Treasures.

Next Friday, a truck loaded with toys will show up at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU. The toys will go to kids spending the holidays getting treatment.

Nick Booth, or “Little St. Nick” as some call him, has organized the drive for the last six years. He’s a 13-year-old from Dinwiddie. Local businesses, organizations and residents collect the toys that are then distributed throughout the hospital.

The toy drive is now in memory of Quinlan Thomas. Thomas died of leukemia. A few years ago, he received one of the donated toys during his stay at the hospital. Now, his family is helping carry on the tradition by working with Nick’s Toy Drive.

With the community’s help, they brought in more than 6,000 toys last year alone.
