FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Workers from the Franklin County Virginia Humane Society returned home on Wednesday after volunteering in Tennessee.
After hearing about the wildfires in Gatlinburg last week, two workers from the Humane Society packed a truck full of supplies and made the trip to the fire-ravaged area.
While there, the two organized medical donations and helped care for animals in need.
Some of the animals were in bad shape.
“They have one cat down there that’s severely burned,” said Terri Bentley. “I mean her whole body her hair is missing, her feet are burned bad her face is burned. She was found on the first step of an in ground pool sitting in water so she knew she was in trouble and she knew to go to the water to save herself.”
Bentley says the cat has a long way to go but is expected to make a full recovery.
