HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Metro Diner is opening its first Virginia location in Short Pump on Tuesday, December 13. The restaurant at 11525 W. Broad Street will feature a menu of everyone’s favorite diner classics.

“Guests feel at home when they come to Metro Diner because we welcome them as if they are coming to our own house,” said Metro Diner founder and Chef Mark Davoli. “Short Pump is a tight-knit community and we look forward to instilling that same sense of familiarity when our diner opens its doors in the heart of the suburbs.”

Being creative with food, Davoli makes sure that guests don’t have to go far to discover new delicious dishes by featuring daily blackboard specials such as Peach Yo Hala on the Square, Pork Chops with a Spiced Apple Chutney, Turkey Pot Pie and more.

The diner prides itself on quality ingredients and a scratch kitchen where they make their own sauces, soups and compotes. In addition, Metro Diner hand cuts their home fries and cracks fresh eggs daily. From its Fried Chicken and Waffles topped with house-made strawberry butter and signature sweet and spicy sauce, to its Charleston Shrimp & Grits, the large portion sizes enable every guest to enjoy a delicious meal at a great value, with most dishes priced under $15.

The diner will be hiring over 100 Short Pump-area residents. Applications to join the Metro Diner team will be accepted for all positions including servers, hosts, bartenders, and kitchen staff. Applicants are encouraged to fill out an application online.

The Short Pump community is invited to celebrate the arrival of Metro Diner at a special pre-opening charity event on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11. All proceeds will benefit the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation and the Junior Achievement of Central Virginia. Guests who donate $10 per person will get a sneak peek at the new eatery and enjoy Metro Diner favorites. Reservations can be made for the fundraiser both days from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. by calling the charity reservation line at 804 251-0437.

The diner will feature seating for 114 guests and will be open Sunday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
