Lockdown lifted after shooting near Henrico County elementary school

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police say they responded to a shooting at North Battery Drive and Austin Avenue near Glen Lea Elementary School Tuesday morning.

That school was placed on lockdown but the lockdown has since been lifted.

According to police, officers responded to the 1700 block of N. Battery Drive at 11:05 a.m. and found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Shortly after, a robbery was reported in the area of Austin Avenue and E. Laburnum Avenue. Detectives are currently working to determine if the two incidents are related.
