1 dead after crash causes vehicle fire in Richmond; victim identified, suspect on the run

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police and fire officials were called to a vehicle fire at 2:20 Sunday morning at the intersection of Terminal Avenue and Jefferson Davis Highway.

The vehicle fire started after another vehicle ran into a car, pushing it into a light pole. That car burst into flames and the driver has died.

The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team investigators have identified the person who was killed in the crash as Kevin Wilson of the 3600 block of Brandywine Drive, Hopewell, VA.


The other driver ran from the scene. Both cars were SUVs.

Police are asking for the public’s help with this case.

Parts of Jefferson Davis highway remained closed until 8 a.m.
