Firefighter injured battling blaze at Richmond home

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A firefighter was injured while battling a fire at an unoccupied home in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Crews were called to the fire at a residence located at 1122 N. 33rd Street at roughly 3:20 p.m. and marked it under control shortly before 4 p.m. Officials say the unoccupied home was being renovated.

Lt. Chris Armstrong with Richmond Fire said while crews were battling the blaze, one firefighter fell through a hole from the second floor to the first floor and was transported to Chippenham Hospital as a precautionary measure. Armstrong added that the firefighter was conscious and is expected to be OK.
