RICHMOND, Va. – Senior guard JeQuan Lewis (Dickson, Tenn.) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Player of the Week for his efforts at the Battle 4 Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Lewis shares the award with Richmond’s T.J. Cline.
In three games against a tough Atlantis field, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 18.3 points per game, while shooting .500 from the floor. Lewis also knocked down 11-of-23 from the 3-point line, while recording 16 assists and seven steals.
Lewis scored a season-high 21 points on Nov. 23 against then-No. 20 Baylor while knocking down 5-of-10 three-pointers. He also dished out five assists and collected three steals.
Against LSU on Nov. 25, Lewis joined an elite group of VCU players, becoming 36th to reach 1,000 career points. He hit 6-of-11 attempts from the floor against the Tigers, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc and contributed 19 points, nine assists and three steals.
For the season, Lewis is averaging a career-high 14.5 points per game, while shooting .458 from the field.
VCU and Lewis take on Princeton on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.
